Krsna in Vrndavana - Vol. 8
Vilāpa-kusumāñjali
refers to «a handful of flower-like offerings of piteous cries.» The
104 verses are like an outpouring of the deepest longings of the author
for attainment of the eternal service of Śrī Rādhā. Volume Three
continues where Volume Two left off, in the chambers of Śrīmatī
Rādhārāṇī, with Raghunātha Dāsa Gosvāmī meditating on the intricacies of
how he longs with all his being to serve his mistress. The 12 piteous
cries (verses 33-44) found in this volume are his ecstasies, which open
up a whole new world to the reader, the spiritual world. Thus we begin
to understand the real purport of going back home back to Godhead.Śrī Raghunātha Dāsa Gosvāmī has named his text Vilāpa-kusumāñjali and compared it to a handful of flowers. Traditionally, commentaries have a name, but out of his innate humility, the author has not given a specific name to his commentary. So in this volume, Hari Pārṣada Dāsa has compared the Commentary to «words inscribed upon a petal» of those flowers, and thus the name of the commentary became: Patrāṅkitā.
This Patrāṅkitā Commentary on Vilāpa-kusumāñjali forms part of the Kṛṣṇa in Vṛndāvana Series, constituting Volume 8. It is planned that this Commentary, a unique offering to the treasure house of Gauḍīya literature, will span 8 volumes in total and extend over 5,000 pages.
Exquisitely presented with 4-colour, high-quality paper, gilt-edged and with original artwork, this book is truly literary and visual art, a unique and beautiful production that takes the reader on a magnificent journey with Raghunātha Dāsa Gosvāmī and Rati-mañjarī into the intimate and longed-for world of service to the lotus feet of Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī.
