Collected poems of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada • Expressions of his devotion to Lord Krishna and his mission
Throughout time, pure devotees of Lord Krishna have composed poetry describing devotional service to Him. This collection of poems reveals the heart and feelings of Srila Prabhupada, the guru who first spread Krishna-consciousness worldwide.
Prabhupada usually wrote in English, even before coming to the West in 1965, because his spiritual master ordered him to preach in English. Therefore it is significant that with the exceptions of the homage beginning Adore, Adore Ye All in English and the Pranama Sloka for Sri Kesava Maharaja in Sanskrit, the rest of the poems were written in Prabhupada’s native Bengali. From this we can surmise that the poems were outpourings of his heart. It is only fitting those personal emotions be recorded in the poet’s own language.
